Electroless Nickel Plating
Large Rack and Barrel PlatingKC Jones was among the first processors in the country to offer electroless nickel plating, and today we operate one of the largest rack and barrel systems in North America. This variable speed system applies hard nickel phosphorous deposits without using electricity, creating a dense, uniform coating that virtually duplicates surface topography of the part. Custom FormulationsOur engineered electroless nickel plating processes features unlimited versatility: Depending on performance needs, deposits can include combinations of hardness, wear, abrasion and corrosion resistance, lubricity, solderability, high-temperature performance and protection from various chemicals. Total Coating UniformityElectroless nickel deposits are produced by chemical reaction of nickel onto substrates. Since the process requires no electrical current, controllable coating deposition rates produce consistent tolerances within ± 1 to 2 microns. Sharp corners, edges and flat surfaces – including blind holes, threads, channels, recesses and internal areas – are all covered evenly, so little or no post-plate grinding or burnishing is needed. Meeting and Exceeding Industry StandardsWhen specified, hardness requirements reach the highest in the nickel plating industry, up to Rockwell 65 C, which includes post-treatment heating. The amorphous structure of the deposits also produces a porosity-free surface that is highly resistant to corrosion.
